Monroe, Wash. – EvergreenHealth Monroe recently welcomed Brenda West as chief nursing officer (CNO) to the Sky Valley-based hospital. In her new role, West joins EvergreenHealth Monroe’s executive leadership team, bringing more than 25 years of clinical leadership experience to help advance the organization’s commitment to expanding access to quality care for patients and families across Snohomish County.
West is an accomplished clinician with a background in leading teams within organizations in both the public and private sector.

Most recently, West served as chief clinical officer at Prestige Care, a senior living and post-acute care organization with 80 skilled nursing facilities and assisted living communities in the western U.S. Prior to her role at Prestige, she spent six years as chief clinical officer at Summit Pacific Medical Center in Elma, Washington, and has also worked as a discharge planning and utilization review manager at Southwest Washington Medical Center.
In her roles at Prestige Care and Summit Pacific Medical Center, West implemented initiatives focused on promoting patient-centered culture to reduce patient complaints by 50 percent, while also improving staff satisfaction. Additionally, she succeeded in decreasing nursing staff turnover by 30 percent and successfully directed change management initiatives during a $21 million hospital transition project.
As a member of the EvergreenHealth Monroe executive leadership team, West plans to engage a team approach to solving problems, coordinating tasks and inspiring a high degree of productivity to overcome challenges and achieve success.
She holds Bachelor of Science degrees in nursing and health education, as well as master’s degrees in nursing and business administration. West also served as a Regional Lean Six Sigma Black Belt trainer for seven years, and incorporates lean principles into her process improvement plans and strategic initiatives.
