The hospital earned ASA’s “Get With The Guidelines” Quality Achievement Award

Monroe, Wash. – EvergreenHealth Monroe recently earned the American Stroke Association’s (ASA) Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke Silver Plus Quality Achievement Award for serving as an industry leader in utilizing the most up-to-date evidence-based treatment guidelines to improve stroke patient care and outcomes.

The 2018 American Stroke Association Silver Plus Award logoEvergreenHealth Monroe achieved Silver Plus status within the Get With The Guidelines program by meeting specific quality measures for a full year, and successfully demonstrating its dedication to providing stroke patients the highest quality care.

“Our skilled providers consistently strive to improve patient outcomes and exceed industry standards, and this Quality Achievement Award reflects their dedication and hard work,” said EvergreenHealth Monroe Chief Administrative Officer, Renée Jensen. “By ensuring our philosophy of care is aligned with the latest research-based guidelines and incorporating cutting-edge technologies, we are able to provide our patients with advanced stroke care when they need it most.”

Get With The Guidelines-Stroke is an in-hospital program for improving stroke care by promoting consistent adherence to the latest scientific treatment guidelines, and reports on achievement, quality, reporting and descriptive measures. The ASA recognizes hospitals that achieve at least 85 percent compliance in each of the Get With The Guidelines Achievement Targeted Award Measures, which include proper use of medication and other stroke treatments that speed recovery and reduce the risk of mortality or disability. Before discharge, patients should also receive education on managing their health and schedule a follow-up visit.

EvergreenHealth Monroe ensures patients receive the most comprehensive stroke care, even when a specialist is not onsite, with its Telestroke evaluation technology. Telestroke complements the emergency department’s rapid stroke evaluation program and allows providers to virtually connect via video with an on-call EvergreenHealth neurologist in order to collaborate and devise an optimal treatment plan for patients who may have suffered a stroke.
