Philosophy of Care

I firmly believe that cardiovascular disease must be treated proactively with a multi-pronged approach including diet, exercise, medications and procedural intervention at every stage of the disease from early risk factors to acute coronary syndromes to end stage heart failure.  It is my goal for you to live a full and productive life despite the presence of heart disease.

Personal Information

I grew up in rural western New York State. I was drawn to the Pacific Northwest both by the opportunity to train in cardiology with nationally recognized experts at OHSU in Portland and the tremendous opportunities for outdoor recreation in our area.
My wife, Susan, and our three teenage daughters live in Kirkland. We enjoy hiking, fly fishing, mountain biking and Nordic skiing.

Community Involvement

I have been active with my three daughters in the Northshore YMCA adventure guide program, serving as the Chief Navigator of the program in 2010-2011.
I've been active as a parent volunteer in the LW School district.
I have been a member of Physicians for Social Responsibility since 1989.
