Telestroke technology available at EvergreenHealth Monroe complements the emergency department’s current rapid stroke evaluation program by allowing emergency providers to remotely connect and collaborate via video technology with an EvergreenHealth neurologist.
While a majority of stroke patients see a neurologist in person, Telestroke fills the gap during on-call times, including late nights and some weekends, when a neurologist isn’t physically on site.
In those cases, an on-call neurologist can remotely examine a patient displaying stroke signs using interactive video technology with the help of emergency room doctors and nurses.
The evaluation through Telestroke takes less than 15 minutes and allows neurologists to counsel emergency services providers to get a proper treatment plan in place.
For patients who have had a stroke, immediate care is critical and can make a significant difference in improving chances for a full recovery.
Our stroke care has been recognized with the 2019 Get with the Guidelines Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award from the American Stroke Association.
This award recognizes EvergreenHealth Monroe’s commitment and success in implementing a high standard of stroke care by ensuring that their stroke patients receive treatment that meets nationally accepted, evidence-based standards and recommendations.
